When Is The Euro Final?
The UEFA EURO 2024 final took place on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at 9:00 PM Central European Time (CET). The match was held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
The Olympiastadion, with a seating capacity of 71,000, was the largest stadium used in the tournament. It’s the home stadium for Hertha BSC, a German second-tier football club. The stadium has a rich history, hosting significant events like the 2006 FIFA World Cup final and the 2015 UEFA Champions League final.
Besides the final, the Olympiastadion hosted three group stage matches, one round of 16 game, and a quarter-final during EURO 2024. This marked the first time the Olympiastadion hosted the EURO final. While West Germany hosted the 1988 UEFA European Championship, the final was held in Munich.
The EURO 2024 final was contested between Spain and England. Spain secured their fourth EURO title, defeating England. This victory solidified Spain’s position as the most successful team in the history of the European Championship. England, on the other hand, finished as runners-up for the second consecutive EURO tournament.
The match was officiated by French referee François Letexier. He was selected by UEFA to referee the final match of the tournament.
Interestingly, several players from Real Madrid, who won the UEFA Champions League in the same year, also participated in the winning Spanish side, achieving a rare double victory. These players included Dani Carvajal, Nacho, and Joselu. This feat has been accomplished by only a select group of players throughout history.
This EURO 2024 final was a historic event, marking another chapter in the rich history of the European Championship. The tournament showcased exciting football and culminated in a memorable final match at the iconic Olympiastadion in Berlin.
