UEFA Euro 2024 Draw: Everything You Need to Know
The UEFA Euro 2024 final tournament draw took place on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany. The draw ceremony commenced at 18:00 CET, determining the group stage matchups for the highly anticipated tournament.
Hamburg, one of the ten host cities for Euro 2024, will also host four group stage matches and a quarter-final. The remaining host cities include Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. Germany, as the host nation, automatically qualified for the tournament and was placed in Group A.
The draw resulted in the following group stage configurations: Group A consists of Germany, Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland. Group B features Spain, Croatia, Italy, and Albania. Group C includes Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, and England. Group D comprises the Play-off Winner A, Netherlands, Austria, and France. Group E consists of Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, and Play-off Winner B. Finally, Group F includes Türkiye, Play-off Winner C, Portugal, and Czechia.
Twenty teams secured their spots in the tournament by finishing in the top two positions of their respective European Qualifiers groups. These teams, along with host nation Germany, were divided into four pots based on their qualifying performance for the draw. The three remaining spots will be filled by the winners of the play-offs scheduled for March 2024.

Twelve teams, determined by their performance in the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League, will participate in the play-offs. Six semi-final matches will be played on March 21st, 2024, followed by three finals on March 26th, 2024. The winners of these final matches will claim the final three berths in the Euro 2024 tournament. These Play-off winners were assigned to Pot 4 for the draw.
The draw procedure involved six pots (A-F) representing the group positions and four pots (1-4) representing the teams. Pot A contained three balls for positions A2 to A4 in Group A, as Germany was already assigned to A1. Pots B to F each held four balls representing positions B1 to F4 in their respective groups. Teams were drawn from their assigned pots and placed into the corresponding group positions.
The Uefa Euro 2024 Draw was broadcast live on various channels worldwide and streamed on UEFA.com and the official UEFA Euro 2024 app. Fans eagerly awaited the results to see which teams would face each other in the group stage.
The tournament will follow the same format as UEFA Euro 2020. The top two teams from each of the six groups, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16. The tournament will then proceed with a knockout format through the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and culminating in the final match.
