Euro Truck Simulator 2 Gyroscope Controls: Troubleshooting Steam Controller Input Issues

I’ve been using a Steam Controller with its gyroscope feature to play Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2), but recently encountered an issue where the controller isn’t recognized as an input option within the game. While other controllers like the Xbox controller are detected (only when Steam Input API’s Xbox controller support is disabled), the Steam Controller remains unavailable for control binding, despite functioning correctly in other games and ETS2 menus. This suggests a potential conflict with the Steam Input API, which the Steam Controller relies on.

Various troubleshooting steps have been attempted, including toggling Steam Input forced on/off both in and outside of Big Picture Mode, and participating in the Steam Client Beta. None of these attempts resolved the issue. The Steam Controller itself is operational, working flawlessly in other games and navigating ETS2 menus, further isolating the problem to the input selection within ETS2’s control settings.

I’ve also noticed an issue with custom controller configurations being forcibly reverted to the official binding configuration within the Steam Input API. This might be related to the main problem. My operating system is Windows 10 Home. Further investigation into the Steam Input API and its interaction with ETS2 might be necessary to pinpoint the root cause.
