Euro Converter: Official Monthly Rates from the European Commission
The European Commission provides a free Euro Converter offering official monthly accounting rates for the euro and other currencies. This tool utilizes conversion rates established by the Accounting Officer of the European Commission, adhering to Article 19 of the Financial Regulation.
These rates are primarily used for calculating reimbursements for expenses, travel, and subsistence costs for external participants in Commission-requested meetings, interviews, and similar events. However, the euro converter is also available to the public, offering monthly currency conversion rates dating back to 1994.
The displayed rates reflect market rates from the second-to-last day of the preceding month. These rates are sourced from the European Central Bank or, when unavailable from the ECB, from delegations or other reliable sources close to that date.
InforEuro, the system behind the converter, provides rates for both current and obsolete currencies, encompassing countries within and outside the European Union. For each currency, historical conversion rates against the euro (or the ecu before December 1998) are available. This historical data is accessible electronically from March 1994 via downloadable files.
The data provided by this euro converter is purely informational and intended solely for EU budget implementation purposes. The European Commission does not guarantee the accuracy of these rates and assumes no responsibility for any discrepancies. This publication does not confer any rights upon users, and inquiries from the general public regarding these rates will not be addressed.
