Euro 2024 Round of 16
The Euro 2024 tournament has reached the exciting knockout phase, narrowing the field from 24 teams to 16 contenders vying for the championship trophy. The round of 16 promises thrilling matchups and intense competition as the remaining teams battle for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Sixteen teams have advanced to the Euro 2024 Round Of 16: Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Slovenia, Austria, France, Netherlands, Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Portugal, Turkey, and Georgia. These teams secured their spots by finishing in the top two positions within their respective groups, or as one of the four best third-placed teams.
The knockout stage follows a single-elimination format. Winners of the round of 16 matches will progress to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals, culminating in the final match.
The round of 16 matches will take place from June 29th to July 2nd, 2024. The quarterfinals are scheduled for July 5th and 6th, followed by the semifinals on July 9th and 10th. The final match will be held on July 14th.
Spain dominated the group stage, winning all three of their matches. Germany finished with two wins and a draw, while both Austria and Portugal secured two victories and one loss in their group stage campaigns.
Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze leads the tournament in goals scored with three, heading into the knockout round. Five players are tied for second place with two goals each: Jamal Musiala and Niclas Fullkrug (Germany), Cody Gakpo (Netherlands), Razvan Marin (Romania), and Ivan Schranz (Slovakia).
In the event of a draw after regulation time in a knockout match, two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played. If the score remains tied after extra time, a penalty shootout will determine the winner.
The Euro 2024 round of 16 matches will be held in various stadiums across Germany. Specific venues include the Olympiastadion in Berlin, BVB Stadion in Dortmund, Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Cologne Stadium in Cologne, Dusseldorf Arena in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt, Munich Football Arena in Munich, and Leipzig Stadium in Leipzig.
