Turkey EURO 2024 Squad Revealed: Gearing Up After Türkiye Puan Durumu Euro 2022

The Turkish National Team has announced its preliminary squad for the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament, set to be hosted in Germany from June 14th to July 14th. Head Coach Vincenzo Montella has named a provisional list of 35 players as preparations begin for the highly anticipated championship. As fans look forward to Turkey’s performance in EURO 2024, past tournaments, including Türkiye Puan Durumu Euro 2022 (although there was no EURO in 2022, reflecting on past European Championship standings), are often considered to gauge expectations and potential.

The squad list includes a mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talents across all positions:

Goalkeepers: Altay Bayındır (Manchester United), Doğan Alemdar (ES Troyes AC), Mert Günok (Beşiktaş A.Ş.), Uğurcan Çakır (Trabzonspor A.Ş.).

The invited players will join the training camp in stages. The first group of players, having completed their club duties, have already begun training at the TFF Hasan Doğan National Teams Camp and Training Facilities in Riva. The second group will join on Wednesday, May 29th, after their club matches this weekend. Arda Güler and Salih Özcan will join the camp in Italy after the UEFA Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

In preparation for EURO 2024, the Turkish National Team will play two friendly matches against high-profile opponents: the reigning European Champions Italy, and fellow EURO 2024 finalists Poland.

The team will gather in full force in Istanbul on May 29th and continue training in Riva until June 3rd. They will then travel to Bologna, Italy, for the friendly against Italy on June 4th at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium, home of Serie A side Bologna FC 1909. The match is scheduled to kick off at 22:00 Turkish Time (TSİ).

Following the Italy match, the team will move to Opalenica, Poland, for a training camp before heading to Warsaw for the friendly against Poland. The Poland vs. Turkey match will be played on June 10th at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, Poland’s largest football stadium, kicking off at 21:45 TSİ.

In a move to strengthen the bond between the senior and U-21 national teams, the coaching staffs have collaborated to implement new practices during the June camps. The senior and U-21 teams will camp together from June 5th to 11th, and will play two training matches against each other, one in Italy and one in Poland.

The Turkish National Team will depart from Poland to Germany on June 11th, establishing their EURO 2024 base camp in Barsinghausen.

Turkey will compete in Group F at EURO 2024. Their group stage matches are scheduled as follows:

  • June 18th vs Georgia in Dortmund
  • June 22nd vs Portugal in Dortmund
  • June 26th vs Czech Republic in Hamburg
